Task initiation vs planning
What is task initiation?
Task initiation is starting an action once you know what needs doing. Plenty of adults with ADHD can explain the whole project and still not open the laptop.
How is that different from planning?
Planning sorts work across time: priorities, calendars, dependencies. Initiation is the first physical move: open the email draft, put shoes on, clear one corner of the desk.
If you already have a plan but cannot start, more planning usually makes the freeze worse.
When do you need planning?
Use planning when you are unclear what belongs in the day or week. Use initiation tools when the task is clear but you still cannot begin.
A useful test
Ask: “If someone put the first step in front of me right now, could I do it in two minutes?” If yes, you need help starting, not another roadmap.
In short
Match the tool to the bottleneck. Task Breaker is for initiation: break the task, show one step, help you start.
